BoardCompanions is a platform dedicated to excellence in governance for not-profit organizations and social enterprises. Our mission is to support these organizations in maximizing their impact through inspired leadership practices across the Netherlands and beyond.

Our activities consist of matching BoardCompanions with non-profit organizations and social; enterprises. We do this in conjuction with our partners such as the Oranjefonds and Socialenterprises.nl. We also foster communities of interest for current and prospective board members, providing resources and opportunities for professional development in board governance.  Furthermore, we produce and disseminate research and thought leadership on critical topics such as governance, finance, marketing, strategy and human resources, to enhance board effectiveness for non-profit organizations and social enterprises.

Non-profit Organizations and social enterprises play a crucial role in addressing critical issues and filling gaps left by the public and private sectors. They champion social causes, healthcare, education, and environmental protection, touching millions of lives and fostering community and purpose. In the Netherlands, non-profit organizations alone contribute to 5% of our GDP and 12% of the labor market, providing meaningful employment and highlighting their vital role in both social development and economic stability.
